Congratulations to the winners of our 2023, 2024, and 2025 WGSS Undergraduate Essay Contests, and thanks to everyone who came out to the WGSS Town Hall Potlucks to meet the winners, hear about their research, and to help plan the future of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Florida State University.
There will be another Town Hall Potluck and Award Ceremony in Spring 2027, where we will give the prize to the winners of our 2026 Essay Contest. Please plan to attend and share your ideas (and your favorite snacks). Specific information on that event will be posted below early in the Spring 2027 semester.

The Advisory Board of the
Women’s, Gender,
and Sexuality Studies
of Florida State University
invites our entire campus community
– Students, Faculty, Staff, and Administrators –
to a
Town Hall / Award Ceremony
Semester Meeting / Pot Luck
to be held in the Bradley Reading Room, Scholars Commons, Strozier Library
in the Spring 2027 semester (check back here for a day and time in early 2027)
At the meeting we will present the $500 prize to the winning essay and $250 to the second place essay in
our 2026 WGSS Undergraduate Essay Contest.
All individuals in attendance will be invited to speak on what programs in Women’s Studies and
Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies mean to them, and what we can do to
share the value and the values of these programs with larger communities.
If you feel so inspired, we encourage folks to bring snacks to share.
We’ll have as much to share as individuals choose to bring.
